Kick Cashback only needs two things to create your account: an email address and a password. That's it. We deliberately don't ask for your name, address, phone number, date of birth, or any identity document at sign-up — because none of that is necessary to browse stores, earn cashback, or watch your balance grow. The only time we ever need additional details is when you ask for a payout to your bank account.
What we collect, and when
Stage
What Kick needs
Why
Sign-up
Email + password
To log you in and send essential account notifications.
Earning cashback
Nothing additional
The retailer never sees your Kick details, and we don't pass anything personal to them.
Requesting a payout
BSB + Australian bank account number
To send the direct bank transfer. We don't store full debit card details.
Large or unusual claims
Government ID (drivers licence or passport)
May be requested for identity verification on high-value transactions, in line with Australian anti-money-laundering rules.
What's optional but useful
Phone number — only needed if you enable SMS-based two-factor authentication or if your claim triggers a fraud check.
First name — used only for friendlier dashboard greetings and email subject lines. Skip it without consequence.
Marketing preferences — by default we only send essential transactional emails (sign-up confirmation, payout notifications, security alerts). You can opt in to occasional cashback-rate alerts in your settings.
What we never ask for
Your retailer login credentials. You shop on the retailer's site under your own retailer account — Kick never sees that login or password.
Your card numbers. Payment is between you and the retailer at checkout, exactly as if you'd visited the retailer directly.
Your superannuation, tax file number, Medicare number, or any other government identifier — except where AML/CTF identity verification is required for very large claims.
How is my information stored?
Email and password are stored in an access-controlled, encrypted database — passwords are put through a one-way hash so we never see them in readable form. Bank-account details used for payouts are kept securely and only used to issue your bank payment. Read more about Kick's data security practices.
Can I delete my information?
Yes. You can request deletion of your Kick account at any time by emailing info@kickcashback.com. Some records (for example, payout records for tax and anti-money-laundering purposes) need to be retained for a defined period under Australian law, but everything else is removed promptly. See our Privacy Policy for the full retention details.
What if I don't want to give my bank details?
You don't have to — until you want to claim. You can shop and accumulate cashback indefinitely without sharing bank details. Only when you're ready to move money out of Kick into your bank account does the BSB and account number become necessary. More on the payout process here.
Why does Kick collect so little compared to other services?
The simple answer: we don't need more. Cashback only requires linking a click to a sale to a bank account at payout time. Anything beyond that is data we'd be collecting just because we could — which raises privacy risk for you and storage cost for us, with no upside on either side. Australian privacy law also encourages us to keep collection to the minimum necessary.

Our Experience
We are a first-party cashback platform — we work directly with retailers rather than reselling another company's network. Our team negotiates cashback rates, manages partner relationships, and processes payments in-house. According to industry data published by IAB Australia, partner and cashback marketing represented over $1 billion in tracked Australian retail sales in 2024 (source: IAB Australia Online Advertising Expenditure Report). Kick Cashback is part of this growing sector and is committed to passing the majority of retailer commissions back to shoppers as cashback.
Our editorial team draws on direct experience working with major Australian retailers and global partner networks. We publish detailed cashback information, retailer terms, and shopping guides based on first-hand knowledge of how cashback tracking, attribution, and payments work. Where industry standards or regulatory guidance applies — such as the Australian Consumer Law administered by the ACCC, or the Privacy Act 1988 administered by the OAIC — we cite the relevant source so readers can verify our claims.
